Bala Lake Railway - 2016 Special Events

Diana at BalaSteam Gala - August 26th to 29th

We're celebrating "Diana's" first season with us with a steam gala where she will be joined by all our other engines in steam plus some visiting locomotives to add variety to the weekend.

Come along to this unique event and see:

  • Six steam locos in action including visiting Quarry Hunslet locomotive Velinheli from the Launceston Steam Railway
  • Intensive timetables each day
  • Visiting locomotive King of the Scarlets from Statfold Barn Railway on display
    • Interestingly Velinheli, Maid Marian and King of the Scarlets share the main components from Maid Marian and they all will be re-united for the first time since they left Dinorwic Quarry
  • Return of Peckett locomotive Triassic to the railway. Triassic will be on display and not in steam.
  • Free ex-London Transport Routemaster double-decker bus connecting Bala station to town
  • Miniature railway rides at Llanuwchllyn
  • Model railway, bus and tractor displays at Llanuwchllyn

There will be something different to see each day, so why not come along for a couple of days or even make a long weekend of it.
